Dublin Core
Title
Interpreting Migration: Current Models and a New Integration
Subject
immigration, policy, population, data
Description
Assembles the range of migrational models and theories found in disparate disciplines, and examines convergences among them while assessing their individual worth. Then proposes a new, two-pronged model: a causal analysis based on "aspirations, opportunities, and mobility," paired with a consequential model examining "needs for migration and capacity to absorb it." Tests this model against the migration experience of late-twentieth century U.S. Discusses policy implications.
