Description
First Paragraph: "The history of women's education can be taught differently now than twenty years ago owing to new work. This paper provides an overview of the excellent precedents set in discussing the informal and formal education of women in the nineteenth century. It concentrates on the plethora of rich material written about the education of the privileged, but constantly points out the need to complete the picture by discussing the education of women of color, different classes, and various ethnic backgrounds."
